Easter Traditions In The Camino – A Galician Favorite
Easter is a very special time celebrating the arrival of SPRING and the blessings of new beginnings to come. We see signs of this wonderful time greeting us daily as nature brings new blossoms to the trees, with gorgeous green leaves, and flowers blooming in vibrant colors of the rainbow. What’s not to love and enjoy of this truly incredible season.
Celebrating Easter or Semana Santa (Holy Week) as it is known in Spain brings the opportunity to enjoy many special traditions unique to each culture and here in Galicia one very delicious tradition that you can enjoy all year around that is extra special during Easter is Tarta de Santiago. This wonderfully dense and full of flavor cake is made with spanish almonds, country fresh eggs, and lemon. Decorated with powdered sugar with the symbol of the Saint James Cross. It is not only beautiful in its presentation but is sure to become one of your favorites!
If you would like to spend a little fun time in the kitchen baking this delicious dessert famous from Galicia and Iberia then you will surely enjoy Hispanic Kitchen’s wonderful recipe: http://www.hispanickitchen.com/profiles/blogs/tarta-de-santiago-a-spanish#.U1OE-pVsRFI
